Cafe Bionda in Chicago

Quaint old school Italian restaurant. Spacious enough with two large eating areas, but it seems small and intimate because of the decor. Very friendly staff and delicious Italian foods. I particularly recommend the home made gnocchi with vodka sauce. We would definitely return.

The place is a little tight to get into but well worth it because the food is just fantastic!

Great food, great bar, great service. The atmosphere is lively and the crowd is diverse. Perfectly cooked scallops and calamari are the mark of a disciplined kitchen.

Always enjoy the real thing. Homemade gravy (sauce) fresh, flavorful and unique. Each dish sone right. Had a large group so we shared a ton of great dishes....but one of everything!

I'd say probably a 3.5. it didn't live up to the hype. Bruschetta was really good. I ordered stuffed shells with tomato cream sauce and it was incredibly salty, to the point I took the marinara served with the bread and added it to try to balance it out. My friend had the ravioli in white sauce and loved it. Another had gnocchi, which was also salty. Desserts carrot cake and cannoli, were really good.

Horrible service. Brought the wrong dish to my wife. Didn't let us know how it was going to be rectified. Didn't offer to make the correct dish to take home. My wife didn't have dinner with the rest of us that night. Small portions for an Italian eatery. Food was marginal at best and ridiculously over priced. I was VERY disappointed with this restaurant and will never go back. If you're thinking about trying it, skip it.

Simply amazing is all I can put into words I was completely blown away with the service the tasty entrees amazing drinks last but not least the five-star meal I give it 10 Stars I definitely we'll be coming back here don't take my word for it the food and the drinks speak for themselves. I want to come back and get it again I'm about to spread the word about about this Restaurant I feel like I was in Italy and a restaurant that's the feeling you get when you're here and almost makes you feel like you're in Italy

I found this place on Trip Advisor while in Chicago. The Bar was wonderful and Dee took excellent care of me. I ordered the Prince Edward Mussells half order and they were outstanding in the white wine garlic broth. My Eggplant Parmigiana was hot, Large portion and such a wonderful fresh tomato sauce. The mixed beverage was also very good. If anyone is remotely thinking about this place you need to do yourself a favor and go there .

This is a staple for me. Whenever I’m in the Loop I make sure to encourage my group to come here. Outstanding service, attended last night for their special of short rib ravioli with pea sauce... to die for.

I don't normally write reviews, but this place deserves my updated perspective. I used to visit cafe bionda multiple times a year and went tonight for the first time in a couple years. Wow has it changed. 7pm on a Friday night and it was chaos. Food came out room temperature, the $15 grilled Calamari literally had 4 pieces. Server was non existent. I used to love this place and visited frequently when I lived nearby. I used to recommend it to my friends and family. I will not be recommending it to anyone and I will not be going back. Complete turn off for me and my date. What a shame. Many, many other amazing Italian restaurants in the city for half the cost :(

It was so great we had to go back for an encore! Start with their steamed clams with fresh jalapenos and thinly sliced garlic in a delicious broth, that you use the wonderful bread to soak up the deliciousness! Then move on to linguini with more clams, meat lasagna or chicken parmesan with an added meatball and you have a fabulous dinner. May I recommend the apple pie ala mode and the warm chocolate lava cake! 😋😋😋😋😋 Life is grand!

Had a very good experience in this spot with my friend. The food was served rapidly and the service is just fantastic. Prices are convenient.

The portions are extremely generous. I expected half the amount of the chicken saltimbocca I ordered. The appetizers were nearly enough to forgo the main course. The marinara was a little sweet, but good nonetheless. The menu was extensive without being overwhelming. Decent parking. Bring plenty of people to share with.

Their chicken Alfredo is one of my favorites and go to dish when I’m looking for comfort Italian. Service has always great, I love sharing this place with friends

Beautiful ambiance! Great service. I had a shrimp, mussels and clam entree with linguini but can't recall the name. Service was a little slower but we were a large party. Highly recommend! Great menu.

I had an awesome experience while dining in, however, having it delivered has been less than stellar. I ordered the chicken piccata with a side of angel hair pasta. What I received is two unseasoned chicken cutlets and dry pasta. My daughter’s spaghetti and meatballs tasted like canned pasta sauce and for over $60, I expect my food to be tasty. If I give them another chance, I’ll definitely have to dine in. I’m extremely disappointed. The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because of my first experience with them when I dined in.

Very Delicious! Chef cooked a salmon dish I requested that wasn't on the menu. My guest had the lobster fettuccine that was outstanding as well. Definitely recommend. Service was good as well

We ate two different plates of pasta, vongole and shrimps. The linguini vongole seemed more like a soup than a pasta.Anyways, good quality, they tasted good, but too spicy and hot! Explosive combination...

A hidden gem in the south loop! The most delicious Italian food, and great service too! I normally get the same thing b/c its my favorite dish of all time - at any restaurant - the Eggplant Milanese with Arugula Salad on top. mmm mmmmm

The food was excellent, we have never been there before and we wanted to try something different and we all agreed it was a great meal. I had the meatball salad and the shrimp with broccoli linguine, and it was very very good. The service was great even the owner came over to our table to talk to us. He also sent over a tray of desserts after our meals, which they was good too.

Recently dined here with colleagues after a dental convention. We were a group of 10 and we received excellent service. All of the meals were large portion sizes and all were delicious! The service extended beyond the meal when there was confusion with Uber- we were going back to McCormick Place and needed an “uber xl” and 2 times a regular car came. The gentleman running the valet said “hold on, let me see if I can get the shuttle for you “. And that he did! So nice of them to help us out!

Good restaurant in an up-and-coming location on the South side of Chicago. Warm, comfortable environment with excellent service and good food. Prices more in the mid-range than cheap.

The customer service is always fast, fantastic character, super nice staff. I will return here again when I get in town.

Made a reservation through open table and they got us in earlier than we planned! Service was great and attentive. Food was wonderful. Their marinara served with bread was excellent. Almost an arrabiata spicy kick to it. So thoroughly enjoyed the meat lasagna. Very cheesy but balanced. The sausage orecchiette was excellent. Bruschetta appetizer a must try. They had this broccoli salad that was awesome. Will have to come back to try more dishes! Highly recommend eating here.
